Washington has welcomed the understanding reached between TRNC authorities and the UN concerning the construction of the Pile-Yiğitler road.

The US State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller said that the US commended the work of the sides in building confidence.

“We welcome news that an understanding was reached to stabilize the Pile plateau in Cyprus. We commend the work of the sides and the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus , and urge next steps to build confidence,” the spokesman for the US State Department Mathew Miller posted on X.

He also said that Washington remained supportive of the designation of a UN Envoy to help resume negotiations.
