North Cyprus is experiencing a widespread water outage due to a malfunction at the Geçitköy pump station. As of 8:00 AM this morning, water supply to the entire country has been halted.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, water delivery from Türkiye to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will be suspended during the repair works on the water supply project.

During the repair period, the water needs of the population will be met from local drinking and utility water sources.

The statement also urged the public to use water consciously and sparingly.

Authorities assured that necessary information will be provided to the public and municipalities through the press throughout the process.
