
The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı has announced that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will continue its close cooperation with institutions and organizations in Türkiye to combat cybercrime.
As part of these efforts, a workshop on cybercrime prevention will be organized in the TRNC.
During his official engagements, Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı met with Eskişehir Bar Association President Barış Günaydın, Deputy Chair of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTHK) Tayfun Aydınlı, Eskişehir Branch President of the Turkish Informatics Association Murat Kadir, Eskişehir Tepebaşı Deputy Mayor Suat Yalnızoğlu, and Eskişehir Tepebaşı Municipal Council Member Baturay Özkan.
According to a statement from the ministry, Arıklı emphasized the importance of raising awareness about cybercrime and strengthening deterrence through penalties to ensure the safe use of the internet.
He also highlighted the rapid evolution of information technologies, stressing the need for periodic updates to relevant laws.
“There is a strong cooperation between BTHK and the Turkish Informatics Association in organizing training programs on information and communication technologies in the TRNC. We aim to invite other institutions and professionals specializing in this field to participate in the upcoming workshop on cybercrime. This event will be instrumental in identifying necessary legal updates concerning cybercrime,” Arıklı stated.
The minister confirmed that the workshop will be held in the coming months.
