World Tourism Week

This week marks Tourism Week.

The week will be celebrated with a festival at old Girne Harbour on Saturday, April 20.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment, Fikri Ataoğlu, emphasized in his message released for the week that they aim to advance the tourism sector further by preserving and developing the country’s unique values.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment, Fikri Ataoğlu, who issued a message to mark the tourism week, which takes place from April 15-22 said that this year’s festivities would take place at the old Girne Harbour which recently underwent renovations.

Highlighting the importance of tourism for the country, Ataoğlu noted that they would celebrate the tourism week with the public to emphasize the importance of travelling and discovering different destinations and cultures.

Ataoğlu explained that tourism not only created economic growth and job opportunities but also facilitated a better understanding among people, playing a critical role in bringing together different cultures, traditions, and people for world peace and mutual understanding.

“Our country is a paradise for tourists with its unique natural beauties, historical riches, and hospitable people,” said the tourism minister, emphasizing that their goal was to further develop the tourism sector by preserving and developing the country’s unique values.

However, he also highlighted the importance of sustainability and environmental protection in tourism, stating that they strive to pass on nature and cultural heritage to future generations.
