Yellow warning for high temperatures

A yellow warning has been issued for high temperatures expected to peak at 40C inland on Monday.

The meteorology department’s warning began at 9 pm on Sunday and will expire at 5 pm on Monday.

The lowest temperatures expected are 26C inland and 25C along the coast.

Winds will initially be variable, force 3 on the Beaufort scale, gradually becoming south-westerly to north-westerly, weak to moderate, force 3 to 4, and moderate to strong, force 5, in the southern coastal areas in the afternoon.

The sea will be smooth to slight.
