Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz is in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on behalf of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to attend the 40th anniversary celebrations of the Republic.
Welcoming Yılmaz at the airport, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel emphasized that it is thanks to Türkiye that Turkish Cypriots live in peace and tranquillity today.
Yılmaz for his part said that Türkiye, as the Motherland and Guarantor country, will continue to be the guarantee of the TRNC.
Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz is in the TRNC to take part in Republic Day celebrations.
Both Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz made statements at Ercan Airport.
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel stated that the Turkish Cypriot people crowned their struggle with the Republic thanks to the support given by Motherland Türkiye.
He said that Türkiye has always stood by the Turkish Cypriot people during their good and bad days and stated that if the Turkish Cypriots are living in peace and tranquillity it is thanks to Türkiye.
Üstel thanked Türkiye for not leaving the TRNC alone on this spectacular day and wished a future without war.
Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz for his part stated that they came to represent Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the 40th anniversary celebrations of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is the shining star of the Turkish Cypriot people’s struggle for existence.
Noting that the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye and the 40th anniversary of the TRNC are being celebrated, Yılmaz said that the Turkish Cypriot people, who said ‘no to captivity’, established their own Republic and expressed his wish for them to walk into the future in a sovereign and independent manner.
Stating that the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriots should be accepted, Yılmaz reiterated Turkish President Erdoğan’s call for the recognition of the TRNC.
Explaining that the 2nd century of the Republic of Türkiye will also be the century of the TRNC and that the New Ercan Airport is a concrete example of this, Yılmaz emphasized that these investments will continue.
“As the Motherland and Guarantor country, Türkiye will continue to be the guarantee of the TRNC,” said Yılmaz.
Meanwhile, this afternoon Turkish vice President Cevdet Yılmaz will be received by President Ersin Tatar and Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre.
He is also expected to hold a meeting with Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.
