President Tatar receives members of Yunus Emre Institute

President Ersin Tatar received the Deputy Chairman of the Yunus Emre Institute, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kutalmış Yalçın, and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday.

Speaking during the meeting, the President congratulated the institute for its efforts in promoting Turkish culture and identity in 64 countries.

Stressing that transferring thousands of years of history and traditions to future generations was a privilege granted to great nations, Tatar said, “We are also a part of the great Turkish nation. We have our share in this process. We take pride in being involved in your work with our young people and artists.”

Expressing his pleasure in hosting representatives and young participants from the various branches of the Yunus Emre Institute around the world who were present in the country for the 3rd Peace and Freedom Cup held as part of the 20th of July Peace and Freedom Day celebrations, President Tatar thanked them for providing an opportunity to introduce the TRNC to young people from different countries.

The Deputy Chairman of the Yunus Emre Institute, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kutalmış Yalçın for his part, stated that they had reached 85 representatives in 64 countries, stressing the significance of the centre in Lefkoşa as the most important one in terms of institutional memory.
