The Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) Ömer Çelik also made a statement on Tuesday regarding the attempt by United Nations Peacekeeping Force (UNFICYP) to intervene in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ (TRNC) security forces.

Responding to a question on the issue during a press conference, the Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson of the Justice and Development Party Ömer Çelik said, “I extend our get-well wishes to our soldier who was injured in the scuffle.”

Noting that the UN had announced that it would conduct an investigation into the incident, Çelik said, “We expect that those responsible will face the necessary consequences.”
