President Ersin Tatar is continuing with his contacts in Türkiye.

After completing his contacts in Kars, he moved on to Ardahan where he gave a conference at Ardahan University.

During the conference the President spoke about Cyprus and the new two-state policy.

President Ersin Tatar visited Ardahan within the framework of his visits to Türkiye and was accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı.

President Tatar, who first met with members of the press in Ardahan, explained that the Turkish Cypriot people struggled for existence like the people in Ardahan and that they gained their state with the support of motherland Türkiye.

Stating that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is developing in every field including tourism, agriculture, education and science, Tatar said that they expect visits from students, tourists and investors from Türkiye.

He then visited Ardahan University and attended the 2023-2024 Academic Year Opening Ceremony.

President Tatar delivered the first lecture on “the Turkish Cypriot Struggle for Existence from Past to Present”.

Tatar emphasized that the TRNC, which is an important centre in the Blue Homeland, especially in energy, is the stronghold of Turkishness as an independent Turkish state.

He said that the Turkish Cypriot people are an inseparable part of the Turkish nation, and noted that Cyprus has always been of great importance for Türkiye’s security.

Stating that they have put forward a new two-state policy, the President said despite international restrictions, the Turkish Cypriot people have the right to determine their own future and will continue to take firm steps towards the future with the support of Türkiye.

“We will never go back to pre-1974 conditions”, Tatar said, adding that they continue to explain wherever they go “the importance of independence, freedom, statehood and the existence of motherland Türkiye”.

He also stated that they want an agreement in Cyprus and that they can evaluate a solution based on the guarantorship of Motherland Türkiye, the survival of the TRNC state and cooperation, noting that the two states can cooperate on natural resources and energy.

He said that they are carrying out the national cause together with Türkiye, and emphasized that they will never give approval to bury the TRNC in history.

President Ersin Tatar also visited the Ardahan Branch of the Turkish War Veterans Association and Ardahan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
