The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı emphasized the significance of the completion and utilization of the new terminal and runway at Ercan Airport.

He highlighted that prior to privatization, the airport incurred losses, but now generates an annual income of 1 billion TL.

The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı attended a panel on “Developments in TRNC Aviation and Problems Encountered” and stated that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has recently successfully implemented crucial aviation projects, with the new terminal and runway at Ercan Airport being the most significant one.

He added that Ercan Airport is the largest airport in the nearby region and underlined that 52 percent of the revenue from every invoice issued at the airport goes to the state.

Arıklı stated that the funds entering the state through Ercan Airport have exceeded 600 million dollars since privatization.

He also mentioned that Ercan Airport belongs to the people and is a source of pride.

The deficiencies at the airport will be addressed and resolved in due time, he said.
